How to read the numbers
- Updated twice a day, at about 07:40 and 12:40 Vienna time (an hour later in summer); runs can start late.
- Ski areas spanning several villages (e.g. SkiWelt, Zillertal Arena, KitzSki, Snow Space Salzburg) are listed once; their snow depths are from the village that reported last.
- Closed resorts show nothing open and no snow depths: their reports often still carry last season's values. “No report yet” means the resort hasn't reported for 14 days. Trentino, Dolomiti Superski, Livigno, Ski Arlberg, PKL, Zieleniec and French (Lumiplan, ATEN) reports carry no report time, so their open/closed is always taken as current; French resorts count lifts and slopes scheduled to open later that day as open, and show “No report yet” while their slopes are outside the season. TMR's areas (Jasná, the High Tatras, Szczyrk), some other Polish ones and a few small Austrian ones are listed with their size only for now.
- Total slope km is the ski area's size: the one advertised by the resort, otherwise OnTheSnow's or skiresort.com's, and for sectors of a linked area (e.g. St. Anton, Verbier) the sum of the operator's slope lengths. For about 20 resorts without one it's the sum of the slope lengths the resort reports, which can be too low.
- Open km are summed from slope lengths (the resort's slope map or infosnow, or OpenStreetMap for Kitzsteinhorn and Kaunertal, which runs low); lift and slope counts from slope maps include practice lifts and carpets.
- Most Swiss resorts don't report snow depths: theirs are measured at the nearest SLF stations (open ground, not pistes), so they can differ from what the resort would report.
- Slope counts of SalzburgerLand and Trentino resorts are the area's size, not reported; Livigno shows lifts only. Most resorts in Vorarlberg, Styria, Upper and Lower Austria have only their slope map: lifts and slopes, no snow depth.
- Avalanche danger (Tirol, Switzerland, Italy, the French Alps and Pyrenees, Krkonoše and Jeseníky in Czechia, Jasná and the Slovak and Polish Tatras; not other Austrian states) is the highest level of the day in the resort's warning region.
